Hahn & Sohn ATS 41 kW is designed to automate backup power supply in combination with a compatible Hahn & Sohn diesel generator. It is a suitable solution wherever the backup power source is required to activate automatically in the event of a utility grid failure, without the need for manual switching.

The ATS control system monitors the status of the main power supply. If a power failure occurs, the system sends a signal to start the connected generator and subsequently enables the power supply to be switched from the utility grid to the generator. Once the main power source is restored, the system can switch the power supply back.

The front panel features three coloured indicator lights that make it easy to identify the current system status:

• MAINS – main utility grid,
• LOAD – powered output,
• GENERATOR – generator.

The control section also includes an electronic automatic start module, a main power switch, control circuit protection and a prominent emergency STOP button.

The electrical components are installed in a robust metal switchboard cabinet. Inside are the power transfer mechanism, terminal blocks, control electronics and wiring for connection to the generator.

The ATS is designed for use with Hahn & Sohn HDE 15000SA3, HDE 15000EA3 and HDE 18000SA3 models, making it possible to create an automatic backup power system for family homes, commercial premises, workshops, warehouses or other buildings equipped with a suitable electrical installation.

Use / installation / operation

The ATS is connected between the main utility grid, backed-up electrical circuits and a compatible generator.

During normal operation, the building is powered from the main utility grid. The ATS control unit monitors its status. In the event of a power failure, the system can activate the generator start function and, once the generator is running, switch the power supply to the generator.

Once utility power is restored, the system allows the power supply to be switched back to the main source and the generator to be shut down.

A control cable with connector is supplied for connecting the ATS to the generator.

As this device operates with mains voltage and high currents, its installation must take into account the specific electrical installation, circuit protection, conductor cross-sections, grounding method and protective measures.
