Oil filter for the Hahn & Sohn HDE 9300SS3 diesel generator
Lubrication system oil strainer for the Hahn & Sohn HDE 9300SS3 diesel generator. The metal filter mesh in a plastic housing captures impurities and metal particles in the engine oil. Washable design with a sealing O-ring - mounted with a single bolt.
The oil strainer is the first stage of engine oil filtration. It captures coarse impurities and metal particles that appear in the oil as a result of normal engine wear and prevents them from entering the oil pump and lubrication passages. A clogged or damaged strainer reduces oil flow and consequently increases the risk of crankshaft bearing seizure - its condition should therefore be checked during every oil change.
- The filter is designed for the Hahn & Sohn HDE 9300SS3 diesel generator with a single-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled 499 cm³ diesel engine. It is the same part for all listed models, which simplifies spare parts storage for operators who have multiple generators from different brands.
- The design is simple and durable: a plastic housing with longitudinal openings fitted with a metal wire mesh filter. On the upper side there is a circular flange with a metal bushing for the mounting bolt and an O-ring that seals the strainer against the engine block. The filter is inserted into an opening in the engine and secured with a single bolt - replacement and inspection therefore take only a few minutes.
- Because the filter element is a metal mesh rather than a paper insert, the filter can be washed in a cleaning agent during routine maintenance and reused. A new part is required if the mesh is mechanically damaged, the housing is deformed, or as part of a planned replacement during a major engine service.

Why customers choose it
- Washable metal mesh instead of a disposable paper insert
- Supplied with a sealing O-ring - no additional parts need to be purchased
- Single-bolt installation without special tools
Practical tip
Check the oil strainer during every oil change - it is the quickest way to determine the actual condition of the engine. Fine metal particles on the strainer indicate wear of the bearings or camshaft and are a warning that warrants inspection by a service technician rather than simply rinsing the strainer.
When cleaning, do not use a wire brush or sharp tools - the mesh fabric can easily tear, and a damaged strainer will allow impurities to pass further into the lubrication system. Simply wash it in a degreasing agent and blow it through with compressed air from the outside inwards, i.e. against the direction of oil flow. Inspect the O-ring every time the strainer is removed and replace it at any sign of hardening or cracking - a leak on the oil pump suction side will cause air to be drawn in and the oil pressure to drop.

Use / Installation / Operation
Switch off the engine and allow it to cool before removal. The work is carried out with the engine oil drained, so combine strainer replacement with a regular oil change.
Loosen the flange mounting bolt and pull the filter straight out of the opening in the engine. Clean the opening and mating surface of any residual oil and dirt. Check that the old O-ring has not remained in the opening - double sealing is a common cause of leaks.
Lightly coat the O-ring area of the new filter with clean engine oil, insert it into the opening until it reaches the mating surface, and tighten the bolt to an appropriate torque. Overtightening may damage the plastic housing, so tighten the bolt carefully without using an extension on the wrench.
After installation, fill the engine with the specified oil, start it, and check the installation area for leaks while the engine is idling. After several minutes of operation, switch off the engine and check the oil level again.
