Before installing the piston pin, check the bore in the piston and connecting rod for wear or ovality — a worn bore will cause undesirable play and engine knocking even with a new pin. Do not forget the retaining rings that secure the pin axially in the piston.

USE / INSTALLATION / OPERATION

1. Remove the piston with the connecting rod according to the service procedure.
2. Remove the retaining rings from both sides of the piston pin.
3. Press the old pin out of the piston and connecting rod bore.
4. Lightly lubricate the new pin with oil and insert it into the piston and connecting rod bore.
5. Secure it with new retaining rings on both sides.

Installation requires experience with complete engine overhauls and suitable tools.
