Lower half of thecrankshaft main bearing shellfor the WEICHAI WP2.3D25E200 engine used in theHahn & Sohn HDE20SS3-DW diesel generator. It forms a pair with the upper shell and together they create the complete bearing surface for one crankshaft mainbearing.
The lower main bearing shell is installed in the bearing cap (unlike the upper shell, which sits directly in the engine block) and together with the upper shell forms a complete circular bearing surface for the crankshaft journal. Unlike the upper half, itdoes not have an oil hole— oil is supplied to the bearing through an oil passage from the upper side, while the lower shell primarily serves to distribute the load evenly and maintain thelubricatingfilm.
- The part is designed for the four-cylinder diesel engineWEICHAI WP2.3D25E200(Hahn & Sohn HDE20SS3-DW generator, 20 kW / 25 kVA) and, like the upper shell, features alocating tab, which ensures precise positioning in the bearing cap andpreventsrotation.

Always replace the upper and lower shells together as a pair, even if the wear is uneven — combining an old and a new shell in one bearing results in uneven oil clearance and faster wear of thenewpart.

USE / INSTALLATION/OPERATION
- The removal/installation procedure is identical to that for the upper shell (see previous part) — the lower shell is installed in the bearing cap.
- The locating tab must engage in the groove in the cap.
- Reinstall the cap with the new shell and tighten it to the specified torque.
- After installation, check that the crankshaft rotates freely before refilling the oil and starting the engine.
Installation requires experience with combustion engine servicing — we do not recommend replacing the part yourself without specialistknowledge.
